Parent Education New Baby Care

Parent Education for the Care of New BabiesParents with a new baby benefit from information and education to help them care for the health, safety and day-to-day needs of their new baby and the mother. Most hospitals provide Discharge Education to train mothers and caregivers before the baby can leave the hospital. Many hospitals provide this education free of charge to their parents and coordinate this education with the Discharge Education required by the hospital. These hospital based programs are named Newborn Knowledge for full term babies, NICU Knowledge for premature and special care babies, and Facing an Early Delivery for mothers at-risk of an early delivery.This Parent Education Program provides dozens of short videos and lessons to teach the important topics parents need. Below is a list of topics provided.All lessons are narrated in both English and Spanish and are presented at a 5th grade reading level for easy understanding. Even parents who have difficulty reading can follow the lessons and those parents with difficulty seeing or hearing can learn. All lessons are richly illustrated and paced for more comprehensive learning. There are special topics for parents of babies in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Units) and Special Care Nurseries educate the parents of NICU and premature babies about the NICU, their role in caring for their baby and the important things they must know before they can take their baby home.
