A custom layout making it easier to type klingon text.tlhIngan Hol DaghItlh DaneHchugh, quja' yIlo'!You will need to install AnySoftKeyboard ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.menny.android.anysoftkeyboard) to use this layout!In case you have a previous version, you may need to uninstall it manually, or at least disable the layouts in AnySoftKeyboard, this is a new package, NOT an update. (See bottom of text for explanation.)Once installed, you can activate any of the four additional layouts in this package.All layouts share the same design, quja' , which is intentionally different from QWERTY or DVORAK .The design is intended to make typing of klingon words easier, as the usage of characters is different, and the layout tries to represent that.As of right now, the available layouts are:1) regular quja' The output will be "normal" characters, like those you are reading right now. The letter covers are rendered by the phone, and thus are subject to the current font you're using. In case of a non-serif font, you might consider the second possible layout:2) roman quja' Also has regular characters as output, but the letter covers are images of a serif font, so it's easy to differentitate I and l.3) quja' pIqaD Again, regular characters as output, but the cover images display pIqaD characters. It's basically just for fun.4) unicode quja' Instead of the regular characters, this layout will produce the codes for klingon symbols according to the Evertype ConScript Unicode Registry code chart.A few notes on the unicode layout:Obviously, only special fonts actually contain the pIqaD characters, so on most devices the layout will produce nothing but spaces, or whatever your font defines for these codes. The klingon symbols are positioned at the far end of the unicode table, where the definition is not enforced by the Unicode registry, but intentionally left open, for anyone to use.To check if you have a fitting font installed, switch to the unicode layout and check the center key - "tlh". While the rest of the letters use image covers, this one doesn't. So unless your device actually supports klingon characters in the unicode encoding, all you'll see is a blank field.(You can still type with it, though. If the text field correctly saves the characters, you can view the pIqaD characters on another device.)All layouts (except unicode) allow a long-press on the "tlh" key, which opens a popup where the (lower case) letters can be found that are NOT in the klingon alphabet. The idea is to use this as a quick fix should you need to insert a non-klingon word in your klingon text.This version of the layout is a complete rebuild based on a newer language pack template from AnySoftKeyboard. Unfortunately, I couldn't recreate the dictionary, I might add it back in a later update, although I'm not sure if anyone actually used the dictionary anyway.Previous versions had a quick-text list of Pre- and Suffixes, they too had to be removed in this version. I will publish a separate package with quick-text lists for those.If there are problems or suggestions, please contact me. I won't promise anything, but if I find the time I'll look into it.I'll look for other keyboard programs that allow custom layouts too.(In case you're wondering why I reuploaded my app, it is NOT to hide the rating - currently it was 3.22, made up of 65 ratings - but because I'm a stupid sloppy idiot and didn't think of making a backup of the KEYSTORE which is used to sign the app.Let this be another warning to all occassional developers: store your keys somewhere safe, you WILL need them again!)
