The Balearic Islands Biotechnological and Biomedical cluster, BIOIB, started as a initiative of the Govern de les Illes Balears (Balearic Islands government) and "Balearic Association of biotechnology companies", constituted by companies in which technological innovation plays a fundamental role in their competitive strategy. BOIB's main objective is to increase and strengthen, at long term, the Balearic Island’s economy competitiveness, boosting those sectors recognised as a strategic and a top priority for the world’s most developed economies, and which contribute to the economic development of the Balearic Islands.
