Hawaii Topo

HawaiiTopo uses your devices location services to pinpoint your position on USGS topographical maps for any of the eight major Hawaiian islands. HawaiiTopo works best with devices that have true GPS capability such as the iPhone 3GS & 4 and iPad 3G. However, any device with location services may browse the topo maps. All of the topo maps are contained within the application so that a cellular or WiFi data connection is not required to view them. HawaiiTopo cannot be installed on original iPhones or iPhone 3Gs because of the size of some of the topos makes it impractical to display on these older devices.

When HawaiiTopo first determines its location a small scale topo of the whole island one is on is displayed. The user may then opt to press the 124K button to view the larger scale, more detailed topo.

On an iPad, one may press the Browse button to view any of the 113 topos available to the application. iPhone users must shake the device to access the list of browsable topos.

The Reset button allows one to restart the location determining process and go back to the small scale island map.

When displayed all maps may be scrolled or zoomed. On iOS4.0+ HawaiiTopo does not update its position unless it is the foreground application.

NOTE HawaiiTopo is quite large and may take a significant amount of time (in excess of 30 minutes depending on connection speed and server load) to download onto your device.
